The Indonesian Embassy in Beijing Organizes a Program "Promoting Indonesian Local Languages"

Yogyakarta, (19/October/2020), Javanese Language Education Study Program, held an unannounced meeting to discuss the design of cooperation activities from one of the programs launched by the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) Beijing, China. The Indonesian Embassy in Beijing will organize a program entitled "Promoting Indonesian Local Languages", through a Javanese language learning program for BIPA learners. The activity is planned to be carried out starting in November online. Participants of the activity come from the selection of 17 universities in the People's Republic of China (PRC), which have held Indonesian Language Study Programs and 7 Indonesian Study Centers.

The meeting discussed the "Promoting Indonesian Local Languages" program from the Indonesian Embassy in Beijing. The preparation of teaching staff and learning modules in a fairly short time, of course, is a challenge in itself to be able to realize this program. This program is also expected to be one of the means to increase cooperation between universities in China and Yogyakarta State University.

This program from the Indonesian Embassy, not only raised the Javanese language learning program, but Sundanese language. The policy was taken by collaborating with the University of Education of Indonesia, Bandung in the Sundanese language learning program. Yogyakarta State University is mandated to teach the Javanese language. With the implementation of this program, it is hoped that regional languages, especially Javanese, will be increasingly in demand internationally. (Doni D. Hartanto)
