Javanese Language Education Lecturer Attends The Third APPBIPA Thailand

Lecturer of Javanese Language Education, Faculty of Language, Art, and Culture of Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta participated in The Third APPBIPA-THAILAND (Indonesian Teacher's Association in Thailand) Conference in Indonesian Language & Culture for Non-Native in Thailand. The lecturer who attended this international conference was Avi Meilawati, S.Pd., M.A. The conference was held at the Indonesian Embassy in Bangkok for two days on June 1-2, 2023 in collaboration with the Indonesian Embassy and APPBIPA-THAILAND. The Third APPBIPA-THAILAND Conference aims to bring together academics and practitioners to comprehensively address the development of Indonesian language teaching in Southern Thailand.

In the conference, Avi Meilawati, S.Pd., M.A. presented a paper entitled "Understanding Javanese Culture as a Strengthener for BIPA Learning in Yogyakarta." This paper discusses the role of Yogyakarta as the center of Javanese culture so that the culture is very close in people's lives, including in learning at various levels of education. Yogyakarta's local wisdom can be integrated in BIPA learning, especially those held in Yogyakarta.

In the future, other lecturers are expected to participate in similar conferences as an effort to improve the image and strengthen the existence of the Javanese Language Education Study Program in the international realm.
